20-Oct-2003 -- Para a visita à Confluência 5ºS/37ºW formamos a equipe Flávio Torres, Gerardo Barbosa, Arylo Holanda e Marcus Vale, no tração nas 4 rodas do Marcus. Naturalmente, conjugando a visita a um final de semana, com as famílias, nos chalés da Ohlinda Pousada, na praia da Redonda, Icapuí, quase na divisa do Ceará com o Rio Grande do Norte.

Saímos no Domingo, 20/10, às 6:00 da manhã, na direção de Tibau, que fica na divisa entre os dois estados, munidos de máquinas fotográficas, GPS, bússula, além de uma garrafa de champanhe, gelada desde a noite anterior. De lá seguimos para Grossos e, de balsa, para Areia Branca. Sabíamos, por informações de mapas e fotos de satélites, que havia na região um assentamento agrícola e que também era uma região de poços de petróleo da Petrobrás.

Pegamos a estrada de asfalto de Areia Branca para Ponta do Mel, com a confluência à nossa direita e entramos em uma estrada à direita, que terminava em uma dessas enormes bombas de petróleo conhecidas como "cavalos". Depois outra estrada, e mais outra, adiante, que também só levava a estas bombas, umas movidas a motores diesel e outras a motores elétricos. Impressionou-nos a facilidade com que chegávamos e saíamos deste poços, sem qualquer vigilância.

Em uma dessas, fizemos a bobagem de colocar o carro do Marcus em uma picada aberta na direção da confluência, chegando a 3,4 km desta, mas já com o carro todo arranhado...

Voltamos novamente ao asfalto e agora, com os 37ºW com os minutos quase zerados, encontramos uma estrada excelente, exatamente na direção da confluência e uma placa "Poço de Petróleo de Pereiro - 6 km". Como estávamos a uns 3 km da confluência, chegamos a comemorar o sucesso da visita. Com a confluência a 1,7 km de distancia, a estrada foi interrompida por uma cerca, com uma cancela trancada e uma placa de "Propriedade Particular - Não Entre - Cuidado com os Cães".

Obedientes às regras, voltamos frustrados por não completar a visita, mas já estamos procurando localizar o proprietário, que certamente concordará com a nossa visita e, quem sabe, integrando a comitiva.

For the visit to the Confluence 5ºS/37ºW we made the team with Flávio Torres, Gerardo Barbosa, Arylo Holanda and Marcus Vale, in the Marcus's 4 wheel drive. Naturally, coupling the visit to a family weekend in the chalets of the Ohlinda Pousada, located at the beach of Redonda, district of Icapuí, almost in the border of the state of Ceará with Rio Grande do Norte.

We left on the Sunday, 20th of October, at 6:00 am, heading to Tibau, at the limit of the two states, carrying photographic cameras, GPS, compass, besides a bottle of champagne kept on the ice since the night. From there we went to Grossos and, on a ferryboat, to Areia Branca. We already knew, by maps and satellite pictures information, that there were in the region an agricultural site and a field of petrol wells belonging to Petrobras.

We took the asphalt road that links Areia Branca to Ponta do Mel, with the confluence at our right hand side, and entered on a road to the right that ended in one of those enormous petrol pumps that are known as "horses". After that, another road, and then another, ending in these same pumps, some driven by diesel and some by electrical motors. We got impressed on how easy we managed to get there and leave, without any surveillance.

In one of these we were silly enough to drive Marcus's car into a walking way that headed to the confluence, getting at 3.4 km away, but with the car full of scratches.

Back to the asphalt road and now with the 37ºW with the minutes almost at zero, we found an excellent road precisely on the direction of the confluence and a road note saying " Pereiro Petrol Well - 6 km". As we were about 3 km from the confluence we started to commemorate the success of the visit. With the confluence at 1.7 km away the road was crossed by a fence with a locked gate and a note "Private Property - Do not Enter - Beware of Dogs".

Obeying the rules, we turned back frustrated for not completing the visit but we are already trying to find the proprietor, who will certainly agree with the visit and, who knows, integrating the team.
