#1: view above weedy confluence field, to the north

(visited by Pat Hodgson)

11-Jan-2004 -- I took a two-week trip exploring various places in Nayarit, Jalisco, and Colima, Mexico. I looked at maps for confluences in these areas but all looked rather remote and inaccessible except this one. It turned out to be just 385m west of a paved road that leads northwest from the small town of Armeria.

I had to cross three barbed wire fences. Most of the walking was easy, through a grove of fruit or nut trees. The last bit was through the very weedy and overgrown field that held the confluence point. Luckily few of these weeds had thorns. I was relieved that the point was not up in the hills to the west because up there is untouched thorn forest which is nearly impossible to walk through.

I did not see any people or buildings in the immediate area, but there were a few cars and buses on the road. Estimated temperature was 95F, 35C - very hot. In the pictures looking west, the ocean is just over these low hills.
