(visited by J.R. Baja and Ken Thomas)

18-Jan-2004 -- After heading west over the Sierra de la Giganta mountain range, we spent a few days heading down the east coast of Magdalena Bay. We spent a few nights with the fishermens families heading south and took a boat to one of the most remote beaches and enjoyed the solitude and shelling while the fisherman caught fish with fresh crabs for bait.
There were incredible dolphin and animal shows going on constantly and we thoroughly enjoyed that as well as the wonderful hospitality of these amazing people.

We continued down the coastline towards the La Florida area which the maps show as the closest to the confluence. There, we met some fishermen who again knew exactly what we were looking for and showed us the roads that would lead us to our destination. They also loaded us up with fish for the rest of our journey.

We followed the roads as we were told and got to within 3 miles of the Confluence. We then hiked the rest of the way to the Confluence and had some great practice at contortionism as this area is a cactus garden and hikers nightmare.

Nevertheless, we being the Troopers we are, ( many years of experience in Mexico and Baja) we continued to the Confluence and documented the success.

We got back to the van just as it was getting to dark to see and celebrated with one of the best tasting Pacificos (local beer) to have ever been drunk!
