16-May-2004 -- In May 2004 our group of seven amateur astronomers from Germany visited South Africa to observe two bright comets under the southern hemisphere sky. Travelling on the R360 from Upington to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park, a visit of the Confluence 27S 21E was a short detour of less than one hour: Turn right in Askham and take the gravel road to Kuruman. The Confluence is located only 200 m left of the road in a savannah-like area about 20 km east of Askham. |
