08-Aug-2004 -- Drove to Ammarnäs and Tjulträsket on a rather warm Sunday morning. Cloudy until I reached Ammarnäs in the Scandinavian mountain range. Parked the car at the gravel parking lot near lake Tjulträsket, 4.48 km from the confluence, level about 550 m.

Uphill in birch forest to 805 m, where the tree line was passed. Saw 4 willow grouse chicken, but no mother to them. Saw later a gyr falcon sitting on a rock, maybe resting after having eaten the willow grouse mother.

Reached the confluence point at about 2 p.m. It is located on a grassy slope at 890 m a.s.l. To the north is Stubepakte cliffs and Marsivagge bird conservation area (wetland). To the WNW is Sulåive (1352 m). The peak of Sulåive can just be seen on the view west picture, beyond the green Dårestjåkke slope.

On the way back to Tjulträsket I passed the blue flower gentian. From the peak of Gaisatj, 2.4 km SSW of the confluence, at 1008 m elevation, the view over Tjulträsket was beautiful. The whole round tour was 10 km and took about four hours. I had a swim in lake Tjulträsket afterwards.
