27-Oct-2000 -- Oil in Indiana? This confluence, 38 north 88 west is located in the southwest corner of Indiana near Mt. Vernon in Posey County. While this oil well is not pumping, several around it were. This oil well is within 100 ft of the actual confluence. The oil deposits are part of the Illinois-Indiana basin.

Photograph two is looking due east from the confluence. Photograph 3 is looking southwest from the confluence at oil pumping operations. Photograph four is an operating oil well near the confluence. Picture five is the obligatory GPS receiver in the newly plowed field. Picture six is part of the John T. Myers lock and dam on the Ohio River near the confluence with the Wabash River. The boat is entering the lock upriver from the east.
