06-Oct-2004 -- I did a bit of map research the night before the visit and discovered that a narrow road connecting a village called "Büyükafşar" to the main road to Kırıkkale was passing very close to the confluence point. Most probably it would be a classic unpaved village road, so I decided to ride there on my trailie bike instead of driving. I asked another biker friend of mine to come along, as if a biker ever needs a reason to ride.
It was a cold but bright, sunny October morning, perfect for motorcycle riding. We took the road from Ankara to Kırıkkale, then to Balışeyh, and finally arrived at Delice. To our surprise our "expected" dirt road turned out to be perfectly paved. What a misfortune...
We made a waypoint of the confluence and put the GPS on compass mode, and started riding up north towards Büyükafşar. Finally, when we arrived at 40N on the road, the pointer on the GPS indicated exactly West and 300 meters to go. As it turned out, that 300 meters were in a pumpkin field! Parked our bikes at the roadside and started walking along the pumpkins. It was just 5 minutes walk and there we were at 40N 34E, surrounded by nothing but pumpkins. Also just 50 meters away there were apple trees full of red apples. We took the photos and later had a small feast of apples to celebrate our victory.
