06-Oct-2004 -- We had decided to try this confluence after a phone call to Lloyd Kempton on Yalardy Station who thought we might have a chance. We had stayed at Nanga Station, near Shark Bay, and were heading back to Perth that day, so we left our AVan at the Overlander Roadhouse and headed 25km north on the North West Coastal highway, then out about 92km east to Yalardy Station. We found Lloyd and discussed various tracks leading to a boundary corner close to the confluence. (Lloyd's homestead had burned to the ground the previous Sunday, and he was busy sorting though the mess. Luckily, he had extensions to the house which had escaped the fire). He invited us back to see some of the interesting sites in the area once the Station Stay was up and running again!
We headed out north on the Gilroyd road and tried a track heading west, but after the last well, it deteriorated to a barely discernable heavily overgrown track more suitable for a motorbike. At that point we gave up, given that we had to be back in Perth that night. We only got to within 9.5km at S26 02.699 E115 04.838. I think this confluence will be difficult and will involve a long hike, unless of course you use a helicopter! We reluctantly headed back to the Overlander Roadhouse, hooked up the van and continued on to Perth.
