20-Oct-2004 -- The site is in the Cooper Basin Oil and Gas province in the northeast of the state of South Australia. The general area is very arid with long sand dunes separated by clay pans of varying sizes. The actual Confluence is in a very large claypan and looks similar in all directions as per the photos although a dune can be seen in the distance to the east. I visited the site during my work in the oil and gas business and the nearest field can just be seen in the photo to the south (The Gidgealpa Oil Field, about 1500m away). I had to walk in 800m from the nearest track.
