14-Oct-2004 -- Work came up to be done at a farm called “Buudain Tsatsal” in Khentii Aimag. Just in case, I checked internet for some potential CPs in that area and off we went with a GPS in our hands.
Interestingly, we remembered about maps after we left Ulaanbaatar and had to find one in towns and Soum centres one the way. Unfortunately, we could not find one.
We dropped in by a secondary school in Umnudelger Soum and found out from the school’s map of Mongolia that it was one hour drive to the confluence point. We reached then Khurkh village on the 13th of October, stayed there overnight, finished the job before noon on the following day and the afternoon we spend looking for the point. Before leaving we asked for directions to Berkh village, which was nearby the CP, from local people. Luckily, the local country road brought us almost directly to the point. It was 78 km south east from Khurkh village. Not including some driving around to avoid a river it is about 65 km drive. Surroundings of the CP were beautiful with horses and camels grazing in the steppe. We arrived at a point approximately 20 km after Berkh village in Batnorov Soum just before the sun went behind the mountain. Huray!
