01-Jan-2005 -- With the arrival of the New Year we decided to do two things, to visit the confluence 25S50W and the Priest's Hole (Buraco do Padre), an interesting geological formation close of Ponta Grossa.
We traveled on December 31 directly to Carambeí in search of the confluence. This confluence is about 12,2 km of the PR-151, in the border of the Represa dos Alagados and inside of the Iate Clube of Carambeí. We talked with Mr. Florisnal, responsible for the club and, as it was already darkening, we promised to return the following morning to register the visit.
January 1st. the day dawned with few clouds in the sky and the Sun appeared. We steered to the Iate Clube of Carambeí and found Sr Florisnal that accompanied us to the place, inside of a little dense forest and trodden by cows and fishermen. The GPS sign began to fail, but close to the point we've got it again. After making the pictures we left in search of the Priest's Hole, surrounding the dam by the North.
The Priest's Hole is a leisure area whose larger appeal is the underground amphitheater as a cavern, with 43 m of height and 30 m of diameter, and in its interior runs the river Cerradinho, which hurries in a cascade that gushes of the walls of a height of 30 m. It's a place of rare beauty, and of great geological curiosity, reached by trails among the native forest. The name is linked the history of the Jesuits that used to go to the high of the plateau for concentration and meditation, being observed by the natives or mestizos, that started to call the place, Hole of the Priest. It is located in Itaiacoca, 26 km from Ponta Grossa, by the PR-513 road.
