#1: How the confluence looks: a gentle mossy, grassy slope with the South Atlantic as a backdrop. In the distance to the southeast Lafonia (East Falkland) is just barely visible on the horizon.
#2: The crest of Coast Ridge is very near to the north of the confluence.
#3: To the east one can see the peninsula that embraces Carcass Bay.
#4: The slope to the south curves away from the eye and ends in cliffs. Beyond lies ocean all the way to Antarctica.
#5: Westward across the opening into Fox Bay, the shore of West Falkland stretches into the distance.
#6: For the Commonwealth. "Desire the Right."
#7: GPS readings. Please note that the altimeter wasn't calibrated and so the photographed reading is incorrect. Post-visit data reduction implies a confluence altitude of 148 +/- 5 meters above sea level.
#8: Varying terrain and obstacles, clockwise from upper left: minefield fence, hummocky ground, saltwater creek, Mars-like landscape.
#9: The rock face that threatened to foil us at the final throw. We were able to go around, cresting the Coastal Ridge and reaching the confluence on the other side.
