(visited by Henk Pouwels and Inge Pouwels)

15-Sep-2003 -- This visit is submitted about 5½ years late (15-Sep-2003 >> May 2009). One of the reasons is I was unhappy with the quality of my photographs. Triggered by a repeated visit I decided to submit this visit “for the record” despite the poor images.

Returning from camping at Quiberon we drove the N24 via Auray and Vannes in the direction of Rennes and left it at exit Plélan-le-Grand for the D38 to Maxent. Along the D38 we found a very old and simple cross. The church in Maxent is peculiar; the inside of the roof looked like an octopus.

In Maxent direction North, rue du Pont Sel = D63 and after 3 km right on D238. The darker section of the map shows a road to the right, straight to the DCP. This road is a narrow dirt road and at the time of our visit loaded with heavy agricultural transports due to harvesting. No way we could enter this road by car. Even an attempt by feet was impossible: it was unsafe because visibility was almost zero due to dust.

So we continued by car, turned right and found another possibility, which required a walk of 700m along the edges of the fields approaching the DCP from the East. Arriving at the field being harvested I saw the last lorry leaving the field.

The DCP is in the lowest corner of an undulating field. Very nearby to the south is a larger pond, at this time filled with twinkling sunspots. While returning to the car we noticed several tiny tornados above the naked and very hot field. My wife photographed me while I was trying to photograph one of them without result.

An old tree, Southeast of the DCP fascinated my wife.

On 4th May 2009 I made a second visit to this DCP, see the difference.
