23-Jul-2015 -- OMG – I can see the track up to the pass!

The Little -Stan Round-trip: We enjoyed gorgeous views from the passes of Kyrgyzstan above the Heavenly Mountains of Tian Shan and bounced through the Seven Rivers Country and the military playgrounds in the deserts of Kazakhstan's Hungry Steppe. This continues the story of 42°N 75°E.

After a steep climb to Tyuzashuu pass we catch the first view over Sonkul Lake. Unfortunately, the lake has the same color as the misty sky. With two sleeping bags you are well equipped up here. So the next morning we could take the next adventurous pass: A family with four daughters invites us for the obligatory photo session (including pink sleepers) at Moldo-Ashuu pass monuments. The steep winding road bends down to the Naryn Valley. It is even mentioned at dangerousroads.org.

There is no supermarket or bread in Ak-Tal. Even so at the small Ügüt where we left the wide Naryn Valley. The Terek river cuts his way through a narrow gorge and then widens towards the settlement of Betov. Here we took the main track leading us south along eroded clay-flanks of Buruli Valley. (Gumbaz) - Remains of an old caravansary or a mausoleum build by red clay. The approach to Buruliu Ashuu pass initially runs unspectacular flat so we did not expect the magnificent view over the Terek valley: It seems as if an angry giant would have struck his axe into the table with the green tableclouth. The old monument at the top shows another name for the pass: MELS-Ashuu which means Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin - matching the photo session this time the crew of a truck.

An ideal confluence track brought us westward – a last small climb crossing to the valley of river Këkdzhar. This time the Toyo has to stay at the riverbed. Horses gaze on the steep slopes opposite. An eagle circling above our heads and the whistling of tons of marmots accompany us climbing up the hill. An awesome panorama awaits us at the confluence: on the green plateau some alpine-like flora growing. Northeast, the Këkdzhar cut through a mountain ridge to drain in the direction of Terek. Northeast we could see the track brought us over from Akbeit Valley leading westward up to the pass Pereval Këkdzhar. Behind Gora Tyuyekuyruk rises by 4247 m altitude. Jamantoo Range with its white glaciers on an altitude of 4737 meters extends south.

The international geo names database joking? Right here is the point "Kirgizya" - the centre of Kyrgyzstan?
