08-Jun-2000 -- Was in Europe for the Belgian 3 Days
orienteering event. Decided to fly into the Bailiwick of Guernsey in the
English Channel to recover from the jetlag and then work my way across
France to the event.
Managed to hit 48N 2W on the way in Brittany, France. It was
pretty simple, set a waypoint and drive in as close as possible, then go
in on foot. One of my maps showed a road running about 100m north
of the confluence, but I couldn't find that road, so I came in from the
south from about 700m out.
Had to fight through a bit of brambles and overgrown fields and mud
and the like, but got twin triple zeros right on the edge of a small pond.
Was a bit worried the point would be in the pond, which would have been
a drag.
The pond, with another behind it, is to the south, with fields in all
other directions. Turns out the road was 100m to the north, which at
least made it easier to get out.
