#1: The point and view to the North

(visited by Jean-Luc Frérotte)

29-May-2013 -- After the visit of the point 51N-7E, I continue towards the point 50N-7E; it is the fourth and last confluence that I will visit today, and still under the rain…

The point is in a forest along the road L56 between Bausendorf and Urzig. It is just a few tens of meters of the road, in the middle of beeches, oaks, hornbeams. In spite of the vegetation, I quickly get all the zeros on my GPS.

And very close to the point, a nice surprise: I find many mushrooms; there are cup morels (Disciotis venosa). These mushrooms are toxic when they are uncooked, but very good after at least 10 minutes cooking in a frying pan. Their taste is close to that of real morels. I harvest about 3 kilos in 10 minutes, and as soon as I'm back home in the evening, they are in the pan! Pleasant end of this day, after approximately 700 km under the rain since Dokkum and the visit of four confluences on the meridian line 7E.
