16-May-2006 –The adventure comes from N52 W1.

Once we finished the visit of Silverstone racing track, Gordon oriented by his Satnav adjusted to go on secondary roads drive thru a wonderful English countryside with large extension of rapeseed flowered of an intense yellow in contrast with some land spots of bright green wheat.

He parked his car on south of our target at just 1000 Mt. We started a easy hike by internal country roads and notice some sign posted that warn you not to trespassing certain zone due to such area are private land dedicated to the protection of wildlife. We eared some far shots of shotgun, but that came from somebody who was hunting (surely not confluences) because we did not saw anybody around.

Taking such sign into account we make some detour and finally arrived to the land spot where our target it is located. The wheat crop was about 50 cm high, with a intense green color. We saw the tractor track on the Greenwich Meridian that for sure and without any doubt, the land owner made with a help of a GPS or any satellite device because the track it not only perfectly located but also well oriented all the way.

Once on CP we took the required picture, looking right on my GPS I verified how it switched from W 0 00.000 to E 0 00.000 constantly and without movement so this is why I think this is a “double confluence hunt” itself. Pictures of both lectures can be see here. It is exciting to be standing on Greenwich Meridian and be consent that half of my body it is in one world hemisphere and the other on the other hemisphere.

We also saw a new communication tower located northeast from CP, bigger and closer than the older one. This CP is located at 142 masl. When we were finishing the picture we heard approaching a military helicopter that I photographed when it passed by in a low altitude flight. Gordon mentioned that it is very strange to see such king of helicopter because there is not military base around this area.

Once we fulfill our mission, we returned to Gordon’s car and because everybody was starving, Gordon take us to a very fancy restaurant named Tally Ho Pub, where we had locals sausages with smashed potatoes, sauté with sweet onions, a great delicious. Of course we all had a home made pint of beer. To any further hunter that visit this confluence again I will highly recommend this restaurant and ask for the home made Horseradish prepare with their own garden.

Well, now that we all recharged batteries, we headed to our next and final target of this triple confluence hunt tour. The adventure continue at N52 E1.
