16-Apr-2010 -- Spring 2010 Holiday
Visit 3 of 5
Having left 53N-01W & 54N-01W way behind us we continue up the East coast on the A1. The weather is still lovely and sunny, even a bit warm! We peel off the A1 left to bypass Newcastle, passing on the right the Angel of the North, otherwise known as a "rusty lump of metal". Get held up in a traffic jam for no apparent reason, then off along the A69
I am a bit concerned that this field may well have livestock in it, if so then Oscar is confined to the car. Needn't have worried, it is freshly ploughed and waiting to be planted. Park up, dog lead on and off to the point.
Walking across a ploughed field is actually quite hard work, but we soon reach the point. In the distance a tractor is spraying something on a field, as we watch it leaves that field, passes ours and stops near our car. Mindful of previous conversations I get ready for a chat.
Get back to the car and the tractor is filling it's water bowser from the stream, the driver isn't interested in us. We leave him to it and head for the border.
