#1: View of the confluence from the west

(visited by Gavin Roy and Kurt Woock)

20-May-2013 -- Continuing on from 35N, 117W on our roadtrip from L.A. to Fort Collins, I saw that this confluence was also very close to freewayland so we decided to stop here as well, if for no other reason than to stretch the legs and get out of the car.

Exiting I-15 toward Henderson, we saw much of the Vegas we hadn't seen yet but could've inferred - the sprawl, the identical, character-less houses, etc. We parked just off of W. Mission on the last residential street in SW Henderson, which was convenient (but guilt-inducing for the somewhat experienced backcountry confluence hunter). The GPS calculated 0.16 miles from there to the point, which was way shorter than I was previously envisioning for some reason. I had thought about following one of the Sloan Canyon trails for a little ways, but if you're young, spry, or don't mind scaling a few loose, shaly inclines, then don't even bother. Arrived at the site in less than ten minutes hardly out of breath.

Confluence dance to get all zeroes took about five minutes and a little awkward rock crawling. Air temperature around 80 deg. F close to noon. Carried two littered beer cans, two water bottles, and a shotgun shell out of the general area on our way back.
