28-Jul-2016 -- After a quick visit to Jūrmala (where I climbed up the spectacular Dzintaru Park observation tower),
I visited this nearby Degree Confluence Point, located in a patch of forest next to highway A10 (aka. highway E22).
I parked beside the highway - 300 m from the point - and bushwhacked the rest of the way. The first 100 m or so was forest; the next 150 m was through a clearing (albeit with sometimes chest-high vegetation); and the final 50 m was more forest. There had been heavy rain (from a thunderstorm) in the area a few minutes previously, and it was still raining lightly as I reached the point. This was annoying, but it helped suppress the biting flies that (as I’ve discovered) like to swarm in forests in the Baltic States in summertime.
