#1: View North (from the top of the earthen dam, towards the confluence point, 22 m away)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

30-Jul-2016 -- While driving on the motorway from Klaipėda towards Vilnius, I made a detour to visit what looked like an easy Degree Confluence Point - next to a pond, about 150 m from a paved road. And while registering a successful visit was, indeed, easy, getting ‘all zeros’ was non-trivial, because it involved scrambling around in thick vegetation (filled with stinging nettles).

On arrival, it became clear that the road along the north end of the pond was actually the top of an earthen dam (that formed the pond). The confluence point itself was down the northern side of the dam - between the dam and the nearby Orija Creek/River (that runs parallel to the dam at this point). Unfortunately this area was filled with thick vegetation (and some discarded trash). But eventually I was able to get ‘all zeros’. To get the ‘north, east, south, west’ photos, I climbed back up atop the earthen dam, 22 m from the point.

Afterwards, I continued on towards Kaunas, and the neighboring point 55N 24E.
