13-Aug-2016 -- This is the second out of four reports reaching confluence points in Croatia, Austria, and Hungary. The story starts from 46°N 16°E.
I actually planned to visit this confluence the next day, but I cycled so quickly through Slovenia such that I reached the confluence area around 8 PM when it was still daylight. I had planned on overnighting in the town Fehring, but the only guesthouse had closed this day. Now I was forced to move own. When I realized that the confluence was only 7 km away as the crows fly, I used the last daylight to visit the confluence.
The confluence is located 2 km north of Hatzendorf (with a train station). The speciality of its location is that it is located exactly on the centreline of the county road to the village Tiefenbach. The road is also called Tiefenbach and has the same name of the nearby creek. The railroad loops around this confluence almost in a full circle! On one side of the road is a field with grass and one with corn, on the opposite side is a row of houses.
After visiting the confluence I realized how hungry I was. After having pizza in Hatzendorf, the chef guided my to the Pension “Grundel” which is run by a cute senior couple. In the area, lots of pumpkins are grown for the famous Pumpkin Seed Oil of the Steiermark.
With this visit I have documented all the 12 confluences located in Austria. These points are mostly fairly easy to reach besides 47°N 13°E which is requires climbing steep slopes.
