During the autumn holidays on Cyprus, I had the chance for a special confluence visit. It is the CP 35°N 34°E, north of Agia Napa. I had been at this spot nearly 10 years ago and it was my very first visit of a CP. Now it is my first repeat visit! The following report is a comparison to my visit 10 years ago, not to the others.
I came from direction west on the motorway A3. Its eastern end is a roundabout, which is part of the "Reythmou Avenue" (E306). The confluence point is located 440 meters south of this roundabout. I did a little detour and parked the car in the road "Lefkorosias", around 110 m north of the CP. From there I approached the CP and took the picture of the location.
On my left side I saw an abandoned villa. Ten years ago it was inhabited. The main gate became very rusty, a palm trees is missing, the others are wild growing and the windows are covered from inside. The owner of the villa to the east installed a solar water heating and an air conditioning system. The hedge and the green on the traffic island was growing, especially the bougainvillea. On picture "View to west" you can see a new built house. The good weather gave best conditions for a picture of the GPS-display with the exact geodetic coordinates. It showed an accuracy of 2 meters. After I had taken the pictures of the four geographical directions I walked back to the car and joined the rest of my family, two kilometers down, at the beach of Agia Napa.
This visit took place 11:30 a.m. and it was really hot and dry. Hopefully it rains enough here in the next view months!
