  35°N 111°W (visit #6)

#1: The confluence point lies in arid ranchland. (This is also a view to the North, towards the rim of the famous Arizona Meteor Crater.)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

07-Jul-2023 -- Driving along I-40 east of Flagstaff, I decided to skip visiting the famous Meteor Crater (as I’d visited it three times before), but instead try visiting this Degree Confluence Point just to the South. Like the previous visitors, I turned right off Meteor Crater Road onto (gravel) Chavez Pass Road at [35.04152,-111.03453]. At [35.01860,-111.03650], I turned left onto a narrow dirt road, and then continued on more dirt roads, eventually ending up parking beside a barbed-wire fence about 0.8 miles West of the point. After crossing the barbed-wire fence, it was an easy hike across mostly flat desert terrain, with stunted, thinly-spaced vegetation. This is arid ranch land; I saw a few cow patties, but no cows. Unfortunately, apart from the presence of the nearby Meteor Crater, there is little that’s noteworthy about this point. However, I was able to fly my drone close to the southern rim of the Meteor Crater, before having to turn back due to high winds and a ‘low battery’ warning.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
