#1: Train seen from the confluence

(visited by Terje Mathisen)

01-Apr-2004 -- Driving along E40 from my visit to 51°N 3°E I left the highway at the intersection with N42, and followed this road northeast to Wetteren, where I crossed to the north of the railroad.

Following N406 east, between the railroad and a small river got me to Wichelen, where I had located a railroad crossing about half a km before the confluence. This would get me back on the south side of the track, where the point lies. I followed the dirt track along the railroad and located the field described by the first visitors.

This field was open, so I walked along the side of it, until I got to the point where three fields meet, just as the first visit did.

The big difference was that this time, GPS SA had been turned off, and the EGNOS differential corrections were active, so my Garmin claimed an accuracy between 2 and 2.5 m. This meant that I could determine that the point is just 11 m from the three-field junction.
