25-Oct-2003 -- On viewing the web sight we noticed that there were three CPs in a row and they were situated along the Trans Australian Railway, which is a 1782km railway running from Port Augusta in South Australia to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The line roughly follows the 31°S latitude in Western Australia and incorporates the longest straight stretch of railway in the world (478km).
Having left Esperance on the evening of the 24th Oct, we travelled 500kms to the Trans Line east of Kalgoorlie where we camped for the night before visiting 31°S 123°E.
We then proceeded 95kms east to this CP which was situated 4kms north of the line in prickly spinifex and eucalypt. By this stage the spinifex which grows in maze-like patterns was making travel by foot most uncomfortable and our ages were begining to show.
We went on to 31°S 125°E before returning to Esperance via Zanthus and Balladonia, which gave us a round trip of 1300kms to complete the confluence visits.
