15-Jan-2002 -- Today finds me looking for the confluence that is nearest my home--58 Km at 51 degrees. The day is cold and and overcast. Near the confluence I find 2 people salvaging wood from a brush windrow so I explain the Degree Confluence Project, but I do not need their permission to go on and they do not seem too interested.

The confluence is 310 m West of Rge Rd 74, and is easy to reach as a narrow siesmic cutline leads right to it. It appears that the cutline is closely following 54 00 000N as the GPS stayed almost right on this latitude as I walked through the aspen forest.
