01-Aug-2022 -- I had long been intrigued by this Degree Confluence Point, with it’s distinctive, scenic location. I had accidentally overlooked it when I passed through Saratoga Springs during my round-the-US tour in 2011, so I was glad to get to visit it today.
After arriving at the Galway Nature Preserve, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to hike through the vegetation on the Eastern side of the pond (avoiding the private property just to the East). But I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to do this quite easily. I found the Degree Confluence Point to be just beyond the shoreline of the pond. My hiking boots got only slightly muddy. By stretching my arm out over the pond, I was eventually able to get ‘all zeros’ on my GPS receiver.
Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
