On the way to a upper tuul river camping on this hot spring day in early June we were passing CP 48N 108E and of course could not resist to get our 3rd Mongolian CP “trophy”. The CP is located some 85km East of UB. The best way to go there is passing by the Chinggis Khan statue and than follow a valley parallel to the tuul river in Easterly direction. Once 5km South of the CP you turn north. The bumpy road passes just 400m West of the CP. A leisurely slightly uphill walk through a light forest and here you are.
From here you may follow another 10km to the North until you reach the river (or rather the river bed, as it was completely dry during our visit). But going from here some 10 to 12km downstream the river fills fast with fresh water from the Northern Terelj National Park area. Excellent camping sites can be found all over this area.
