02-May-2024 --
On a four-day bicycle trip with Zittau as starting and ending point through Czech Republic and Poland, I was able to visit three confluence points.
I reached the second confluence point, with support by the Czech Railways but still had to fight against a strong wind from the southwest on the rest of the route. By coming from Pardubice I took roads through the villages Dašice, Latenice and Ceradice, which is located only one kilometre west of the confluence point 50N-16E. Around 640 m after the end of the village on the road 32259, I reached the turn-off to a small unpaved service road, that runs alongside to the new built Autobahn 35. This side road is not yet in my OSM map or in Google Maps. There is a first geodetic measuring point located right at the junction. The second one is located 80 m southeast and about 13 m west of the actual confluence point 50N-16E. This second one is located direct behind a fence, preventing people and animals to come too close to the Autobahn. It would be dangerous to descent on the loose rubble, so I decided take the pictures of the confluence point 50N-16E 13 m away from the exact location. After taking the necessary pictures my visit was done. So I cycled back to the village and chose the road direction north, which crossed the Autobahn 35 through an underpass to continue my journey.
This visit is a very good example of how the DCP offers the opportunity to show how humans change their environment. In 2016 there was just a field at this location.
