11-Oct-2024 -- This is the 1st out of 3 reports visiting confluence points during a trip to the UK for an extended weekend.
After a long time of visiting confluences by bicycle I have to confess that I used a car on this trip. I was visiting friends in England who where living on the country side. After studying the train schedules and after seeing the low price of rental cars, I decided to do the trip by car. Otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to visit the confluence points with my tight schedule.
In the morning, I started from Brancaster Staithe on the coast at Norfolk. I visited this confluence point on my way to Golborne east of Manchester. The side trip to this confluence delayed me only by 15 minutes. Driving on the main road A522 I pulled in a driveway at a distance of 200 m and parked my car at the farmhouse in a distance of 120m. Since I didn’t see anybody to talk to, I didn’t go directly to the confluence, but took a route around the farm on a meadow (thereby scaling 3 cow fences) until I reached the confluence on the other side of the farm. The confluence is just 20 m from a stable on a meadow with grass.
After the visit, I returned the same way back to my car and continued my long drive towards Manchester.
