06-Jun-2024 -- Dieses war der 13. CP (von insgesamt 19) auf unserer 4-wöchigen Großbritannien-/ Irlandtour 2024 – erster CP der Tour war 49°N 6°E gewesen.

Nun kamen wir von 56°N 5°W und dieser CP-Besuch war einer der schöneren seiner Art – insbesondere auch weil das Wetter mitspielte.

Wir waren am Vorabend beim nahegelegenen “Embsay Moor reservoir” (Entfernung zum CP ca. 1,6 km Luftlinie) angekommen (Bild 12 zeigt Parksituation) und ich hatte noch am Abend eine Umrundung desselbigen absolviert, um die Örtlichkeiten für den Aufstieg am nächsten Tag etwas näher zu erkunden. Dann am nächsten Morgen früh gestartet, links um das Reservoir herumgelaufen und bei einem alten, verfallenen Haus den Aufstieg begonnen.

Ich peilte die Hangkante links von einer prominenten Felsnase (Bilder 7, 10) an; es ging durchgängig mäßig steil bergauf; unter anderem auch durch mittelhohe – teils vertrocknete – Farnfelder. (Bild 11 auf Rückweg) Oben angekommen passierte ich einen Orientierungspflock (Bild 8; hilfreich bei Nebel) und hielt sodann direkt auf den in einer kleinen Senke gelegenen CP zu; (Bild 9 zeigt das CP-Gebiet aus ca. 100 Metern Entfernung). Übermäßig feucht und sumpfig – wie zu befürchten – war das Ganze zu keinem Zeitpunkt.

CP lokalisiert und die Fotos gemacht. Beim Rückweg der Felsformation, die mit skurilen Löchern und tollem Ausblick (Bild 10) aufwarten konnte, noch extra Besuch abgestattet. Dann Abstieg zum Wasserreservoir und WoMo – die Gesamtaktion dauerte knapp 1 ½ Stunden. Nächster CP war dann 53°N 2°W

06-Jun-2024 -- This was the 13th CP (of 19) on our 4-week campingcartour to Great Britain and Ireland 2024 – the tour had started at 49°N 6°E

By now we came from 56°N 5°W and this CP was of the beautiful kind, also due to fine weather.

We had arrived at the „Embsay Moor Reservoir“ (distance to CP approx. 1.6 km beeline) the evening before (pic. 12 shows parking) and I had made a tour around the lake to get a first look at the environment. Next early morning I started the tour by walking around the lake leftside and then – at an abandonned house – began the ascent.

The ascent was moderate; vegetation was (partially withered) ferns (pic. 11 on way back) – I held on to the left of a prominent rock formation (see pic. 7, 10) then passed an orientation stick (pic. 8, useful by misty weather). Then I walked towards the CP, laying in a small depression. (pic. 9 shows CP area at a distance of 100 meters) Surprisingly the whole track wasn't too wet or boogy.

After CP-localisation and taking the pictures, I walked back towards the prominent rock formation, surprising with fine views (pic. 10) and bizarre holes. Then back to the reservoir and our campingcar – after about 90 minutes we continued our journey – next CP was 53°N 2°W
