19-Jul-2005 -- After visiting 57N x 15E I drove to the Byholma timber storage place the next day. This timber storage is put up due to the storm Gudrun, that turned down some 70 million cubic metres of wood. See the 57N x 15E visit for more on Gudrun. The timber storage is already the biggest one in Europe, and will contain about 800 000 cubic metres of timber when it is full. It is the over 2 km long, 13 m high an about 50 m wide, with driveways between the rows of timber.

After the Byholma visit, I drove to Dörarp north of Ljungby and had a late lunch at the Gyllene Rasten Restaurant near lake Vidöstern and only 500 m south of the confluence. To get to the exact point showed to be quite difficult. First I drove to a small dirt road about 300 m northeast of the confluence and walked down to the lake. I was the about 200 m north of the confluence. The vegetation was wet and very dense, and the ground muddy. I had only walking shoes. They were already wet, and I continued along the shore, pushing myself through thick vegetation. It started to rain. The last 50 m were through high reed and water was pressed up though the old dead reed on the ground with every footstep. At last I was 20 m from the confluence, which must be some 10 metres outside the reed belt in the open water area of lake Vidöstern. I was sinking slowly into the water. I took the four landscape photos, but no special overview photo, since the one directed west will serve well as the overview picture. It is taken 25 m east of the confluence. The elevation of Vidöstern is 143 m according to my GPS and 144 m according to the car atlas.
