We were at Maiduguri and heading for Damasak. At Damasak we turned onto the road leading to Kukawa. We were told this road is in very bad condition, so we were prepared to go from Damasak for a long ride on the bikes to the confluence 13N 13E.

But the road proved to be in a very good condition and we were able to drive to Garunda without difficulties. This year there have been good rainfalls in this area and the ground produced a thick cover of grass. 500 meters before Garunda we stopped at an swampy water well which serves as the source of water supply for this village. A few meters past Garunda and 190 meters off the street we found the confluence 13N 13E.
