14-Jun-2006 -- This was the first of three confluences we visited on our way from home in the Washington DC area to a square dance weekend in Cleveland. 40N 79W is just north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike a few miles east of Somerset, PA. The confluence is only about 50 feet north of Stutzmantown Road in a field of chest high grass. Driving east from Somerset we passed the confluence and parked about a quarter mile further east near a construction shed complete with orange Hitachi backhoe. I walked back to the confluence for the requisite photos. This was one of the least interesting confluences I’ve visited. There was grass to the north (photo #1); grass to the west (photo #2); grass with a house and the construction shed in the distance to the east (photo #3); and grass to the south on both sides of the road. Photo #5 shows the GPSr with all zeros.
