28-Aug-2006 -- After a very busy and hectic weekend of getting my daughter back to college near Kankakee we were finally headed home to Minneapolis. Heavy rains had hampered activities that morning but slacked or stopped for a period of time just long enough to get the rented trailer re-attached and returned.
Heavy rains made driving difficult at times and I was thinking that I might have to miss this one that I had planned for two weeks. We were by here 2:00am local Sunday morning so it had to be on the return trip. Well luck isn't usually with me but the rain had stopped and even cleared some. So when we got to exit 104 I took it. VERY-VERY short side step and easy to navigate and find.
Once there it was less than 50 meters from the road but with all the rain I wasn't about to take a muddy trip into the corn to get the magic zero's. So I settled for knowing I was there, took the pictures and made the notes I needed.
The rains came again and driving was difficult shortly after we left the location. BUT I had the feeling of mission accomplished. Then my luck turned even worse near Rockford I had to stop for unexpected auto repairs, BUT that's another story....for another time.......
