24-Jan-2010 -- After an easy visit to N42E88 we decided to have a go at N42E89. With the help of an old fashioned compass we headed straight west for about 80 km and then switched on the hand held GPS. The navigational unit in the car was of limited use, it just confirmed that we were on the same straight road almost all the way from Elk Grove Village.
The weather was not on our side, a slight drizzle and temperatures around freezing point. When we stopped on the road about 50 m from the cp and got out of the car we found this had to be done fast: The wind was freezing and it was almost difficult to handle the camera. The cp was in a soggy field. As we were not shoed for it we found 27 m from the confluence point was close enough and took the required photos and got back into the warm car.
Ps. The time on the GPS is Central European Time, i.e. seven hours before Chicago time.
