#1: Looking North over the Confluence.

(visited by Richard Brubaker and Edward Sellers)

08-Sep-2006 -- Living in LaGrange, the trip was just a short drive. I picked up Ed Sellers and, in about 20 minutes, we took a left (East) turn onto South Highland Blvd just past I-85 after heading South on US 27 out of LaGrange. The road dead ends with a trail following a power line to the East. We followed this trail for about 60 meters then headed Northward into the trees of mostly hardwoods and some pines. After another 40 to 50 meters, we were really close and came to another trail. The Confluence was just off this trail under a couple of dogwood trees. It was a little after 6PM EDT with temperature about 84 degrees F. With a partly cloudy sky and humidity in the 70's, the trip was rather easy.

I believe the pictures of the first visit to this Confluence were taken from Vulcan Drive and may have indeed at the 85W but was South of the true 33N location. A couple days after visiting the Confluence, I drove out Vuncan Rd and as I past the 85W line, the GPS showed N 32°59'36.1" on the road, but the view to the north looked to be the same field from the first visit 7 years earlier. This would suggest that visit was 700 to 800 meters south of the Confluence. See 33°N 85°W visit #1 .
