30-Sep-2006 -- I accompanied my wife and daughter on a trip to Buffalo MN where they wanted to visit a friend. I was not going to stay inside on such a lovely fall day, so after reaching the friend’s home and exchanging greetings I looked for nearby geodash points, and finding none, I decided to go after the confluence at N45 W94 while the ladies talked.
The as-the-crow-flies distance was about 24 km, but my round trip drive was about 80 km, again confirming my rule-of-thumb that the road distance is around 1.5 times the straight line distance, or that the road distance in miles is about the straight line distance in km. The roads took me through the cities of Buffalo and Waverly and past lakes with the same names. Most of the land was rolling farm land planted with soy beans or corn, both almost ready for harvest. There were also apple orchards and dairy farms along my route. Some tree species displayed brilliant color while others were still green.
True to the previous reports, I found the confluence south of a gravel road flanked with corn fields.
After my return the ladies gave me lunch and then went off to gather apples at a nearby orchard while I went for a 7.2 km walk with our friend’s adult son.
