10-Jun-2007 -- After a couple of weeks of planning on which way we were going to tackle 3 Confluence visits in 1 day ,the day had finally arrived to put into practice what I had planned to do. As it so happened, we had a perfect early winter’s day for confluence hunting, with 17°C fine weather predicted for Port Augusta, in the Mid North of South Australia.

Leaving our home in Clare at 7.30am, a heavy fog covered the Clare area. Stopping just outside of Clare, it was a very pretty sight to see the Clare Valley in deep fog. The fog lasted for about 20 minutes, and then we entered perfect weather for diving. Leaving the Barrier Highway just north of Terowie, we turned up Parnaroo Road, travelling for 6 Kilometres, before turning up an un-named road, northwards towards the Confluence.

Arriving at the closest point to reach the confluence, it was time to leave our vehicle, and make the easy 400 metre walk to reach the confluence. Arriving at location of the confluence, it was time for the usual confluence dance, then taking the required photo shots. Seeing that much of Australia had drought conditions in 2006, the very good opening autumn rains have transformed many parched parts of Australia. Comparing the previous photos, also taken in June, it was great to see the native grasses brought back to life, again showing how resilient the Australian native vegetation is.

One down, two to go. So far, so good, so we left the confluence and headed to Peterborough and further north for our next target of S32 E139.
