28-Dec-1999 -- To reach the [33,-113] confluence,
take the Painted Rock Dam road north from Interstate 8, exit 102.
As you approach the confluence, you may worry - as I did - that the
latitude-longitude grid is conspiring against you, as you see rugged
hills emerge from the surrounding expanse of flat desert. No need to
worry, though, because the confluence shows up just before the hills.
Even better, the road passes just 0.5 miles from the confluence. Just
to the east of the confluence is an RV campground (visible in the
background of photo #2). If you park here, you have an easy 0.4 mile
hike to the confluence, along gently rolling desert.
