02-May-2004 -- On our way from Needles, Ca to Tucson, Az, we passed Gila Bend, some 25 km east of 33Nx113W. From I-8 we took north towards Painted Rocks Dam on a tarmac road. The first few kilometers were across cultivated areas, then desert with bushes. At 33 degrees N I ran 800 m west to the confluence, took the pictures, and ran back, while my company waited close to the car, sweating in the still, hot air.
The recorded elevation is 232 m, the vegetation type is desert with bushes and, in the wash, scattered trees.
Earlier confluence visitors had left a small cairn about 3 m from the point my Garmin etrex found to be the right one within 4 metres.
