01-Mar-2005 -- The day before this visit, 28-feb-2005, we travelled from Rodez to Moulins with the intention to visit 45N3E, at one third of this 300 km trip. But we faced blazing snow and passed the DCP at 1.6 km without daring to search for it. Looking at this one can understand why, the DCP is somewhere to the left.
After a cold night in Moulins, with frozen drinking bottles in the car, we continued the journey to Auxerre, Troyes and Chalons-sur-Champagne. About 25 km after Auxerre we got rid of the snow and the weather was much better so we decided to look for confluence 48°N 4°E. Leaving the village Bernon via the D23 to the North we parked the car at about 300 m and continued by walking along a field with long grasses to the rim of a woody area. Yes, the DCP is in this area, close to a small brook.
The GPS display shows a position with a DTG of 56 m which was not very stable. . The satellite constellation was not very good and the signals were weak due to the canopy. At least I was within the 100m limit of success.
We saw a very impressive row of poplars without leaves but full of mistletoe. The location is 47.951°N 3.958°E at 5.5 km from the DCP.
