24-Dec-2009 -- While on my way from El Paso to visit White Sands National Monument, I decided to bag this easy confluence point just North of Alamogordo. The confluence point lies less than 500 feet from Riata Road; all I had to do was walk across some railroad tracks, climb up a small dirt berm, and I was there. Compared to most of the many other desert confluence points that I have visited, the soil here is quite red; perhaps it's volcanic in origin?
