16-Jan-2011 -- Imagine you are on a business trip, have a free Sunday, got a car and not visting a Confluence Point?
Determined not to let that happen, I set off to visit some of the Confluence Points in the countryside.
During my previous trips I visited the points 43°N 088°W, 42°N 088°W, 42°N 089°W and attempted 42°N 090°W (failed due to dense vegetation on the field in summer).
So today I decided to vist at least two of the "drive-in" points along the 41st parallel.
Said an done. I left the I-57 and drove on the Kanake County Road 37 until the GPS showed a distance of 18 meters.
A quick jump out of the car, crossed the road and the ditch and I started the confluence dance.
Few steps later I got a perfect reading: twelve zeros with differential GPS correction. This reading was stable for several minutes. Indeed here is a perfect environment for GPS: no obstacles and no reflection under wide open skies.
After taking the photos I followed the slogan of the 19th centruy: go west!
