13-Apr-2011 -- This is a very interesting confluence point - located close to a levee beside the Mississippi River in New Orleans. The confluence point is on a flat grassy area just to the north of the levee, and just south of a creek, so it was easy to get 'all zeros'. Unfortunately, because of the presence of the levee nearby, the four 'compass point' views from the confluence point aren't particularly interesting, but by standing on top of the levee (just ~100 feet away), you can get more interesting views - especially of downtown New Orleans to the west.
To reach the confluence point, I had to navigate through a maze of gravel roads that passed by a train depot. As I passed by, dozens of tanker trucks were parked nearby, waiting to unload various liquids from arriving freight trains.
