20-Feb-2011 -- After a good night sleep and a full breakfast in our small but very comfortable motel we started our way north again to spot three confluences today. The first one should be very close to a small road but we ended on a farm yard before. The family was at home, two kids and their parents, two dogs and a horse, but no one was interested to talk to us. Finnish people are easy to understand in that way. If they don’t want to talk to you they just disappear.

We put on our snow shoes and started walking towards the confluence. Over a field into the wood, it was as easy as taking a stroll. Taking our pictures we saw the small road (west and north picture) and decided to return on that path back to our car. We didn’t want to disturb the family so we turned left at the storage for biological waste back to the field again and followed our own tracks for the rest of the way. The horse was cautious and anxious at the same time, ran back and forth in its paddock, following every move we made. It was a very nice impression to watch it’s movements but sad as well. Imagine the same animal within a group of its buddies in a rural country side with no fences and a lot of freedom – what a fantastic imagination.
