12-Oct-2011 -- A tale of two confluences - and they could not be more different. In the morning it was 37N15E, in the evening it was 38N15E.

For 37N15E there is a nice parking spot on the side of the road and a gap in the stone wall that perfectly aligns with the confluence point. No climbing, no crawling, no brambles and no rose thorns, no nettles and no sharp slippy rocks or foot-trapping bogs. For these see 38N15E.

The drive from Modica through pretty limestone dominated farmland was very pleasant - except for my gps deciding on a couple of occasions to lead me down non-motorable tracks and into dead-end roads. No problems getting a lock - and for the first time (at least to memory) I got ALL the Zeros - 0.00m, 0.00 to go and 10 more from latitude and longitude.

This year the confluence field has been left fallow - lots of spiky grasses and wildflowers gone to seed. The small bush is still at the confluence - this time bearing fruit - I have not been able to identify the species.

You can just see the top of Mt. Etna from the confluence - today it was (mildly) erupting.
