05-Jun-2012 -- This would be the fourth of a dozen successful visits on a clockwise loop east of Colorado Springs continuing from 39N 101W and would be the first of seven on this day.
At 5:41 am local the sun was just breaking the horizon as I approached the intersection of 190th Ave and J Road. I parked 137 meters north of the confluence along J Road. It was an easy hike over a cut wheat field and, with no obstructions to visibility, zeroing out the confluence was quickly and easily accomplished. While my GPS was data logging, I sent my Spot custom message and took all my pictures.
To the east is a corral with a windmill. Power lines run north-south along the road. The nearest structure is a farm house to the north on the west side of the road.
Picture #6 shows a TerraSync screen shot on the left captured at the confluence and the resulting Pathfinder Office post processed GPS data on the right.
Picture #9 is the original image captured by my panoramic lens as captured by the camera. Picture #10 is that same image rendered as a QuickTime Virtual Reality movie. You can interactively zoom in and out throughout the image when displayed.
It had been almost 6 years since the last recorded visit here! Next stop: 39N 99W!
