22-Jul-2012 -- On the way back from the Island of Rügen I took the chance to visit the Confluence Point 53N 14E.
Coming from the Autobahn A11 I took the exit No. 8 named Pfingstberg and soon reached the road B198. After passing the village Kerkow I reached Angermünde which has a beautiful quiet and also small centre. After a coffee at the Bäckerei Schmidt with very nice lemon layer cake the tour continued to the Confluence.
The GPS showed just another two kilometres to go. Again I had to take the road B198 and after a view minutes I found the sign “Bundespolizei” before a junction into a business park. From the reports of other visitors I knew the special location of this CP and I took a picture as soon I saw the fence from which one I knew the CP location behind.
Now, having arrived at the official parking place I stepped out of the car and took at first some pictures of the GPS. I got one shot showing two meters distance to the Confluence, directly at the fence.
Now I was going to take the pictures from the area but in the meantime two policemen came out and asked me what I was doing. During the talk I found out that they already knew about the Confluence Project but they had to ask their boss regarding my access. Now the two elder colleagues came out and said, that it is not allowed to get into the police area and that I could not do pictures of the building and the police cars on the inner parking place. A little bit disappointed I asked and tried to soften them up – but no way. They said I needed a registration...
So it became a visit of a Confluence Point but two compass points are missing.
After another 16 km on the way back direction home I visited the beautiful and very impressive monastery Chorin. It is an ancient Cistercian monastery in which concerts are given nowadays. Currently restoration works in the big church are taking place. Next to the Monastery the fabulous lake “Amtssee” is located. After a nice walk around the lake the tour back home continued and an interesting visit of an Confluence Point happened.
